"Environmental changes for sustainable schools"

On August 15th-22nd, Mrs. Małgorzata Krzymińska and Lidia Michałowska participated in the project  "Environmental changes for sustainable schools" course in Tenerife as a part of  the POWER project "To inspire and be inspired".

The course, led by very nice lecturers - Laura and Jose, was an excellent opportunity to discuss the conscious exploitation of our planet. Teachers from Poland, Croatia, Hungary, Greece, Italy and Bulgaria explored the ideas of sustainable development. Working on the project method, the participants jointly performed tasks aimed at conscious consumerism, followed the way in which goods were produced, and finally performed the ecological footprint test. The subject of the course was also related to the issues of the circular economy, examples of permaculture, reuse of waste and the implementation of sustainable development goals in schools in Tenerife.

It was an intense week full of good energy and creative ideas.

Webinar on sustainability

The Earth Day is a great opportunity to talk about sustainable development, which is an important element of the Erasmus + project. On this occasion, our school project coordinator took part in a webinar entitled: "Let's Speak Out for Sustainability, together". During the meeting, Mr. Harry Waters and representatives of BBC Studios and Pearson shared their experience and good practices in the field of sustainable life, sustainable development at work and cooperation with students. The key factors in the topic are the awareness of how important our daily habits are and how much they affect our planet and our development. During the next meeting of the project group, the participants, together with the coordinators, will consider how they can change their daily habits.

Classes with our friends from Uganda.

The International Dot Day was celebrated by students from our school in the unique company of children from an orphanage in Uganda. It was possible due to the cooperation of our school with the humanitarian and educational organization Face to Face and an Erasmus + project "Let's challenge the future. Approaching new horizons to create a sustainable Europe ”. According to the objectives of the idea of sustainable development, the youth of our school supports their peers by being engaged in fundraising for children in need and in the organization of online classes for children from Africa. Caring for equal access to education and proper development of children is our greatest motivation.

Thanks to the combination of video tools  in two different rooms, children from Uganda could communicate live with their peers from Europe. Quizzes, shared joy, a movie about little Vashti - all this to remind our children in Africa that every young person is a beautiful jewel who, in order to shine, needs to  have a wise supportive adult guide ...

We are glad that we are part of the Face to Face family - International Educational and Humanitarian Organization and that your actions support the idea of sustainable development.

WE SHOULD NOT GO BACK TO THE NORMAL BECAUSE THE NORMAL IS THE PROBLEM

Our Erasmus Team hosted an ambasador of WWF - an organization whose mission is to conserve nature and reduce the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on the Earth.

The meeting was hold online due to pandemic but our benefits from this event were as great as in real.

Mrs Magdalena Noszczyk showed us very educational presentation and made us think about our future. We realized that a condition of our planet is strongly connected with a quality of people’s life. We have remembered from this meeting one basic rule: Protecting the Earth is a global issue but all of us can start changing the world from ourselves.
